Virtualisation Congress 2008: 25% Discount for WS-UGI Members

September 8, 2008 7 comments

I was contacted by Alessandro Perilli, the founder of Virtualisation Congress 2008.  This conference is running in London in October from 14th to the 16th.  It will feature a wide array of speakers from across the virtualisation industry … "bringing together the industry’s biggest selection of virtualization players, from the recognized leaders to the newest start-ups.

The conference, to be held at London’s ExCel, 14th-16th October, 2008, presents an ideal opportunity for current and prospective users of virtualization technologies to hear directly from the companies at the cutting edge of their development; at the same time, in the same place for the first time ever."

The keynote speaker is Mark Russinovich, formerly of SysInternals and now one of the "Technical Fellows" (or big brains) at Microsoft talks about his keynote on the site.  He’ll discuss Hyper-V (obviously), application virtualisation and what Windows is doing to support virtualisation in the enterprise.  In case you don’t know, Mark knew more about the source code of Windows than some (if not most) of the MS folks before he even joined MS!

There’s a discount code that members of our user group can use to get a 25% discount on the registration.  I’ve emailed this to current members.  Please send in a mail if you’ve just joined or if you’ve lost the email and I’ll get it out to you ASAP.

September 3, 2008 5 comments

Last night we had our event on Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V (Machine Virtualisation) and System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008.  We had 12 attendees who heard:

  • Dave Northey (Microsoft Ireland) discuss Hyper-V and clustering with Hyper-V.
  • Aidan Finn (C Infinity) on some of the more detailed design and troubleshooting details you would need to know when deploying Hyper-V.
  • Mark Gibson (Microsoft Ireland) talked about Microsoft’s management solution for Hyper-V, including Virtual Machine Manager 2008.

The power point slide decks are available for download:
